| Stranded in snowy Horseshoe Bay! |
A 4:30am alarm woke us to travel day, backpacks had been readied the night before and we were ready for the taxi's arrival at 5:50am. It had just started to snow as the cab pulled out onto Rock City Road, we were happy that we'd made the decision to catch the earliest ferry to Horseshoe Bay at 6:30am. It continued to snow for the entire ferry crossing and by the time we docked, the buses on the north shore had stopped running! The clock was ticking and after some frantic searching, we were lucky to find an available taxi and started a very long, slow drive into downtown Vancouver to catch the skytrain to the airport.

We made it to the Korean Airlines check-in desk about 30 minutes later than the suggested time, but still in good shape to get through security and start feeling that we were leaving this west coast winter behind us. As it turned out, this first flight segment departed 2.5 hours late due to weather delays and then waiting our turn for de-icing before finally, the trans-pacific portion of our trip could begin.
A missed connection in Seoul made our arrival in Bangkok much later than planned and we forfeited the hotel night we had booked, as it was now not worthwhile, instead sleeping for a couple of hours in an airport lounge before catching the shuttle over to Don Muang airport (Bangkok's domestic airport) for our Air Asia flight to Siem Reap.
